Reemerging refers to the process of returning to prominence, frequency, or prevalence after a period of decline or absence. In general usage, it describes phenomena that reappear after waning attention or reduced incidence.

In public health and epidemiology, reemerging infectious diseases are those whose incidence increases again after previous declines. Causes include pathogen adaptation and resistance, changes in vectors and ecosystems, climate shifts, population movement, urbanization, and gaps in vaccination or surveillance. Examples often cited include dengue fever, multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, cholera, and measles outbreaks in under-immunized populations.

In other domains, reemerging can describe renewed interest or revival of practices, technologies, or cultural trends after a lull, such as traditional crafts, vinyl records, or certain architectural styles.
