Redoksiparien, commonly translated as redox couple or redox pair, refers to a pair of chemical species that are connected through a reversible oxidation–reduction (redox) reaction. In such a pair, one species is oxidized (loses electrons) while the other is reduced (gains electrons).

A redoksiparien is usually written as Ox/Red, where Ox is the oxidized form and Red the reduced form. The pair can be part of a single redox reaction or constitute the energetic basis for electron transfer in larger systems. The concept is central to understanding how electrons are transferred in chemistry, biology, and electrochemistry.

The redox potential E° characterizes the tendency of the pair to acquire or donate electrons under standard conditions. The half-reaction is Ox + ne− ⇌ Red. The Nernst equation relates the observed potential to concentrations: E = E° − (RT/nF) ln([Red]/[Ox]). Thus, the ratio of the two species and environmental conditions such as temperature and solvent affect the measured potential.

Common redoksiparien include NAD+/NADH and FAD/FADH2 in biological systems, and Fe3+/Fe2+ or Cu2+/Cu in inorganic contexts. The position of a redox couple influences the direction of electron flow, energy transduction in cells, and the outcome of electrochemical processes.

In practice, redoksiparien are used to assess redox state, buffer redox conditions, and drive measurements such as potentiometry and redox titrations. They are sensitive to pH, ionic strength, and complexing ligands, factors that can shift their effective potentials in solution.
