Recüklitavad, also known as recycling, refers to the process of converting waste materials into reusable objects to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution and water pollution (from waste decomposition), and lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to virgin production. The term originates from the Latin *recyclare*, meaning "to cycle again."

The practice of recycling involves collecting, processing, and reprocessing materials such as paper, plastic, glass, metal, and electronics. Once collected, these materials are sorted, cleaned, and broken down into raw materials that can be used to manufacture new products. For example, aluminum cans can be melted down and reformed into new cans, while paper can be repulped and turned into new paper products.

Recycling is an essential component of sustainable waste management and plays a key role in reducing environmental impact. It helps conserve natural resources, such as forests and minerals, and decreases the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators. Additionally, recycling programs create jobs in collection, processing, and manufacturing sectors, contributing to economic growth.

However, recycling is not without challenges.
