Reaktiovoimaa, often translated as "reaction force," is a fundamental concept in physics, most famously described by Isaac Newton's third law of motion. This law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In simpler terms, whenever one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object simultaneously exerts a force back on the first object that is equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.

This principle is ubiquitous in the natural world. When you push against a wall, the wall pushes back on you with the same force, preventing you from passing through. When a rocket expels hot gas downwards, the gas pushes the rocket upwards, propelling it into space. Even simple actions like walking involve reaktiovoimaa. Your foot pushes backward on the ground, and the ground pushes forward on your foot, allowing you to move.

Reaktiovoimaa is not the same as the initial action force. They are separate forces acting on different objects. The action force acts on the second object, and the reaction force acts on the first object. This is a crucial distinction. Without reaktiovoimaa, many everyday phenomena and technological advancements would be impossible. It is a cornerstone of understanding how objects interact and move within the universe.
