Rautameteoriiteihin is a rare and recently discovered type of meteorite that falls under the umbrella of pallasites. These meteorites are composed of a combination of olivine, troilite, and metal, providing valuable insights into the formation and evolution of our solar system.

Named after their metallic composition, pallasites are a subtype of stony-iron meteorites that contain large amounts of olivine set within a matrix of metal. Rautameteoriiteihin meteorites possess a characteristic texture, featuring radiating patterns of schreibersite, an iron phosphide mineral, and troilite, a sulfide mineral, within the metal matrix.

Geological research indicates that rautameteoriiteihin meteorites are formed through the segregation of magma within a main asteroid body. This process likely occurred in the early stages of the solar system, potentially during the magmatic activity in space associated with the accretion of planetary building blocks.

Four meteorite falls have been identified as rautameteoriiteihin: the Murnpeowie meteorite in Australia, the Sikhote-Alin meteorite in Russia, the Imilak meteorite in Algeria, and the Großную Crater meteorite in Germany. Analysis has revealed notable variations in their atomic ratios, aiding in understanding the heterogeneity of asteroid composition. These discoveries support the ongoing research on the compositional diversity of asteroids, thereby shedding light on the Fluid Machines' action in planetary building blocks.
