përcept

Përcept is a term found in Albanian-language academic writing that refers to the English concept of a percept. While the standard Albanian noun for the concept is perceptim, përcept may appear as a shortened form or as a direct loan in textbooks and glossaries that translate or introduce English terminology about perception. In cognitive science and philosophy of mind, a percept denotes the immediate mental content produced by sensory processing—the result of interpreting sensory input, such as the appearance of a red apple or a particular tone, as experienced by a subject. A percept is typically contrasted with sensation (the raw sensory input) and with perception as the broader process by which stimuli are organized, interpreted, and given meaning.

There is variation in how the term is used. Some writers treat the percept as a stable, object-specific representation that remains after initial processing, while others emphasize its role as the conscious content that questions about the external world are answered by. In Albanian-language material, përcept may be encountered in definitions, glossaries, or translations, often accompanied by the longer form perceptim to indicate the full concept.
