Purohita is a Sanskrit term often translated as "priest" or "family priest" in Hinduism. Traditionally, a purohita was responsible for performing religious ceremonies, rituals, and sacrifices for a king, a family, or a community. Their duties encompassed a wide range of spiritual and social functions. This included conducting auspicious ceremonies like weddings, naming ceremonies, and housewarmings, as well as officiating at funeral rites.
