puhdistamolle

Puhdistamo is Finnish for a plant that cleans or treats water, typically wastewater or drinking water. The form puhdistamolle is the allative case meaning "to the purification plant" and is used when indicating direction or destination in Finnish sentences, for example "vedet kulkevat puhdistamolle" (the waters are sent to the treatment plant). The term is used in municipal and industrial contexts.

Purification plants are designed to remove pollutants from water to protect human health and the environment. They reduce organic matter (biochemical oxygen demand), suspended solids, nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, and microbes before discharge to natural water bodies or before reuse.
