Przyznaj is the imperative singular form of the Polish verb przyznać, which has two main uses in modern Polish: to admit or acknowledge something, and to grant or award something. In its imperfective counterpart, przyznawać, the sense emphasizes repetition or general practice (to grant or to acknowledge repeatedly); in the perfective przyznać, the action is completed (to admit, to acknowledge, or to grant in a single act).

As an imperative, przyznaj is directed at a single person and is commonly found in direct speech. Examples include Przyznaj się do błędu (Confess to your mistake) or Przyznaj rację (Admit that you are right). The corresponding plural form is Przyznajcie, and the optative form is Przyznajmy (let’s admit/let’s grant).

Przyznaj can take different objects depending on the sense. With admission or acknowledgement, it can take phrases like przyznać winę (to admit guilt) or przyznać rację (to concede that someone is right). In the sense of granting, it often appears with a direct object in the accusative and a recipient in the dative, as in przyznać nagrodę komuś (to award a prize to someone). The verb is transitive and commonly used in formal contexts, media, and negotiations, where authorities or individuals are prompted to acknowledge facts or to grant something officially.
