Projektorilaitteet, commonly referred to as projectors, are optical devices that project an image or moving images onto a surface, typically a screen. These devices have a long history, with early forms dating back to the magic lantern in the 17th century. Modern projectors utilize various technologies to achieve projection, with the most common being Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), Digital Light Processing (DLP), and LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon).

LCD projectors work by passing light through an LCD panel that selectively blocks or allows light to pass through, creating the image. DLP projectors use a chip containing millions of tiny mirrors that reflect light to form the image. LCoS projectors combine aspects of both LCD and DLP technology. The brightness of a projector is measured in lumens, and higher lumen counts indicate a brighter image, suitable for well-lit environments. Resolution is another key specification, determining the clarity and detail of the projected image, with common resolutions including WXGA, 1080p (Full HD), and 4K UHD.

Projectors find applications in a wide range of settings, from home entertainment systems and classrooms to large-scale business presentations and movie theaters. Portable projectors have become increasingly popular for on-the-go use, offering compact designs and wireless connectivity options. The choice of projector depends on factors such as the intended use, ambient light conditions, desired image size and quality, and budget.
