Primäärikäämissä is a Finnish term that translates to "primary glands" or "primary endocrine glands" in English. This refers to the organs in the endocrine system that are primarily responsible for producing and secreting hormones. The main primary glands in the human body include the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, pineal gland, and the gonads (ovaries in females and testes in males). These glands work in concert to regulate a vast array of bodily functions, including metabolism, growth and development, reproduction, and mood.

The pituitary gland, often called the "master gland," plays a crucial role in controlling the other primary glands by releasing tropic hormones that stimulate or inhibit their activity.
