Prevalso is a medication used to treat acute migraine attacks. It is a selective serotonin and dopamine receptor agonist, which allows it to exert its effects on the body without activating other types of receptors that could lead to unpleasant side effects.

The primary mechanism of action of Prevalso involves the agonist activity at serotonin 5-HT1 receptor sites on vascular smooth muscle cells and sensory nerve terminals. This action leads to a reduction in the release of pro-inflammatory neuropeptides and the inhibition of pro-inflammatory neuropeptide release from nerve terminals.
