The porg is a fictional creature from the Star Wars franchise. It is a small, avian-like species that inhabits the planet Ahch-To, where a portion of the first film, "The Last Jedi," was shot.

According to the Star Wars canon, the porgs are native to the island of Ahch-To and are considered by the island's native inhabitants to be somewhat similar to birds or small animals. They are characterized by their distinctive appearance, which includes fuzzy feathers, rounded heads, and relatively large eyes. Additionally, porgs have distinctive calls and behaviors, such as nesting and chirping.

In the Star Wars film universe, porgs are introduced as peculiar creatures encountered by the main characters whilst exploring Ahch-To. To some extent, they provide comedic relief in the movie, especially when Poe Dameron emerges to find Chewbacca being overwhelmed by a group of porgs.

The post of director Rian Johnson on Instagram has also confirmed that porgs are supposed to live together in a mass of creatures within a large raft together for communication and mating purposes. This domestic destination for the group is but a portion of a larger front motion for them to venture deeper. Research into finches and how their mating grounds may have a role in the idea also gives the film possible collection of similar guidelines in interior rendition.
