Poprawnoci, usually rendered in English as correctness or propriety, is a Polish term that denotes conformity to established rules, standards, or norms. The concept is widely used across disciplines to describe the extent to which actions, statements, or systems meet an agreed standard of accuracy, appropriateness, or safety.

In language, poprawnoci most often refers to linguistic correctness: spelling, punctuation, grammar, and word usage. Teachers and editors apply normative rules to assess and improve texts, while descriptive linguistics studies how language is actually used, which may diverge from prescriptive standards.

In logic and mathematics, poprawnoci signifies validity and soundness: a deduction or proof is correct if its conclusions follow from premises and its conclusions are true under given assumptions. In computing and engineering, program or system correctness describes adherence to specifications and absence of defects.

The term also covers social and ethical norms. Poprawność polityczna, or political correctness, describes language and behavior designed to avoid offense to certain groups. This sense emphasizes sensitivity and inclusivity but can be debated in discussions about freedom of expression and social change.

Polish usage often discusses poprawnoci in education, publishing, law, and media, where accuracy and reliability are valued. Critics sometimes distinguish between mandatory correctness (hard rules) and flexible, contextual appropriateness (soft norms). The concept remains central to quality control, communication, and professional standards.
