polychromaticity
Polychromaticity refers to the property of something emitting or reflecting light of more than one color. In optics and physics, it describes a source of light that contains a mixture of wavelengths, or a material that interacts with a broad spectrum of light. For example, the sun is a polychromatic source, emitting light across a wide range of wavelengths, which we perceive as white light. Conversely, a monochromatic source, such as a laser, emits light of a single, highly specific wavelength.
Materials can also exhibit polychromatic behavior. A prism, for instance, is used to demonstrate the polychromatic
