Polünoomiruumi is a term used in Estonian mathematics and puzzle theory to denote the polyomino space, a discrete geometric framework built from tilings by unit squares on a square lattice. It is used to study how shapes formed from these unit squares can fill regions without gaps or overlaps, and how different tilings relate to one another.

Definition and scope: In the polünoomiruumi framework, one fixes a polyomino P (a connected finite union of unit squares) and a finite region R on the integer grid. The polünoomiruumi comprises all tilings of R by copies of P (allowing rotations and translations). Configurations are considered equivalent under the chosen symmetry, and two tilings can be connected by a local move when a small, localized rearrangement replaces a small number of P-cells with an alternative arrangement within R.

Researchers study connectivity (whether any tiling can be transformed into any other by a sequence of local moves), enumeration (how many distinct tilings exist), and the geometry of the configuration space.
