pneumatikos

Pneumatikos (Greek: πνευματικός) is an adjective meaning "spiritual" or "pertaining to the spirit," derived from pneuma, the Greek word for wind, breath, or spirit. In classical and Hellenistic Greek, it could describe things related to breath or to the realm of the spirit, including the inner faculties of the soul.

In religious and philosophical contexts, pneumatikos often denotes what concerns the spiritual realm rather than the material or natural order. The related noun pneumata refers to "things of the spirit," and the related field of study—pneumatology—concerns the Holy Spirit and spiritual realities.

In Christian theology, pneumatikos is used to distinguish those guided by the Spirit from those described as psychikos (natural or soulish). The term appears in the New Testament, notably in Pauline writings such as 1 Corinthians, where "pneumatikos" describes a "spiritual person" or "spiritual things" (pneumatiká).
