Plasmocytární refers to something related to or resembling a plasmacyte. A plasmacyte, also known as a plasma cell or effector B cell, is a type of white blood cell that is responsible for producing antibodies. These cells are a crucial component of the adaptive immune system, playing a vital role in humoral immunity. Plasmacytes originate from activated B lymphocytes (B cells) that have encountered an antigen. Upon activation, B cells differentiate and mature into plasmacytes, which then migrate to various tissues, particularly the bone marrow and lymphoid organs.

The primary function of plasmacytes is the synthesis and secretion of large quantities of specific antibodies. Antibodies are Y-shaped proteins that bind to specific antigens, marking them for destruction by other immune cells or neutralizing their harmful effects. Each plasmacyte produces a single type of antibody, specific to the antigen that triggered its development. The morphology of a plasmacyte is distinctive, characterized by an eccentric nucleus (pushed to one side of the cell), abundant basophilic cytoplasm (due to a high concentration of ribosomes involved in protein synthesis), and a prominent Golgi apparatus.

Conditions or processes described as "plasmocytární" might involve an increase in the number of plasmacytes, an abnormal proliferation of these cells, or a pathology associated with their function. For example, plasmacytoma is a tumor composed of plasmacytes. Disorders like multiple myeloma are characterized by the malignant proliferation of plasmacytes in the bone marrow. Therefore, "plasmocytární" can be an adjective used in various pathological or immunological contexts to denote a relationship with these antibody-producing cells.
