pionowy

Pionowy is an adjective in Polish that describes something oriented along or aligned with the vertical axis, in the direction from top to bottom. It is the counterpart of poziomy, which denotes horizontal orientation. The adverb form is pionowo (placed vertically), as in ustawione pionowo. The term is distinct from the unrelated noun pion in physics, where pion refers to a subatomic particle; context usually clarifies the intended meaning.
