Perdisplay is a term used in display technology to describe a per-unit measure of resource use or performance attributed to each display in a multi-display system. It is not a formal standard, but a concept that appears in technical discussions and some academic work to help compare configurations and optimize layouts.

Definition and variants. Perdisplay can refer to several related metrics, including energy per display (EPD), latency per display (LPD), and rendering per display (RPD). In each case, the general approach is to take a total system metric and divide it by the number of active displays under a defined workload. The resulting value is intended to reflect the average impact per display unit when multiple displays operate together.

Measurement considerations. Because perdisplay depends on workload, brightness, content type, and ambient conditions, standardized measurement requires clear definitions of the tested scenario. Common practice is to specify the number of displays, the brightness target, the color profile, the content being shown, and the workload or rendering task used during measurement. Documentation should also note whether the displays are in identical configurations and whether features such as synchronization or scaling are enabled.

Applications and limitations. Perdisplay can aid in comparing energy efficiency across multi-display setups, guiding hardware selection, and informing placement decisions for signage, control rooms, or immersive environments.
