A pentozik is a hypothetical particle that possesses five quarks. The term is derived from "penta-", meaning five, and "quozik", a portmanteau of quark and, possibly, a nod to the concept of a "fuzzball" or complex, loosely bound structure. While the Standard Model of particle physics describes particles composed of two, three, or six quarks (mesons and baryons respectively), the existence of particles with other numbers of quarks remains a subject of theoretical exploration.

Pentoziks would be a type of exotic hadron, meaning they are not composed of the usual three quarks (like protons and neutrons) or a quark-antiquark pair (like pions). The specific arrangement and types of quarks within a pentozik are not definitively known, and theoretical models propose various configurations. For instance, a pentozik could consist of four quarks and one antiquark, or potentially five quarks of the same flavor, though the latter scenario faces significant constraints from Pauli exclusion principles.

Current experimental searches for such exotic particles have not yielded conclusive evidence for the existence of pentoziks. Physicists continue to investigate the possibility of these and other multi-quark states through high-energy particle collisions, such as those conducted at the Large Hadron Collider.
