parasyrë

Parasyrë is a municipality located in the Kukës District of Kukës County, Albania. It has a total population of approximately 1,700 inhabitants, according to the 2011 census. The municipality comprises a single settlement by the same name.

Geographically, Parasyrë is situated in the northeastern part of Albania, nestled in the Serbian border region. The surrounding landscape consists of rolling hills and ravines, characterized by a diverse array of flora and fauna. The settlement lies on the banks of a river and is surrounded by oak and beech forests.

The local economy primarily revolves around agriculture and livestock breeding. Cattles, poultry, and vegetables are some of the main products of the region. Moreover, the fertile soil and favorable climate allow for the cultivation of crops such as wheat, barley, and rye. Many families also engage in woodcutting, a lucrative trade given the abundant timber available in the nearby forests.

During the Ottoman rule, the area was known for its significant contribution to trade settlements along the Kukës-Monastir(Ohrid) route, which played a pivotal role in the regional economy.

In terms of infrastructure, Parasyrë has received some improvement over the years. The local settlement has access to an asphalted road that connects it to the major towns and cities of the country, including the regional hub Kukës. Water supply and basic electricity amenities are also available.

However, basic issues such as large electrified fences on the national border, water management issues, insecurity due to workforce mobility, can be identified as common concerns.
