In some South Asian cultures, "pakkh" (or variations like paksha) denotes a lunar fortnight, which is a period of approximately fifteen days in the lunar calendar. This division of the month is significant in many religious and cultural practices, particularly in Hinduism and Buddhism, where specific rituals, observances, and festivals are often tied to the waxing or waning phases of the moon within these pakkh. For instance, the Amavasya (new moon) and Purnima (full moon) mark the end of each pakkh and are considered auspicious days.
