oölitic
Oölitic refers to a sedimentary rock composed primarily of ooids. Ooids are small, spherical or subspherical grains that are typically formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate around a nucleus, such as a shell fragment or a grain of sand. These ooids are cemented together by a matrix of the same or a different mineral, most commonly calcite, but sometimes dolomite or quartz. The name "oölitic" comes from the Greek word "ōion," meaning egg, and "lithos," meaning stone, referring to the egg-like appearance of the ooids.
Oölitic rocks are commonly found in shallow marine environments where there is sufficient agitation and supersaturation
Oölitic limestones are important sources of building material and are also used in the production of cement.
