Oprávněnost is a Czech term describing the state of being entitled to something or justified in a particular action, as well as the formal authorization or right to perform it. The word appears in legal, administrative, and ethical contexts and can refer to both legal entitlement and moral justification. It is related to terms such as oprávněný (authorized, entitled), právo (law, right), and oprávnění (authorization, permit).

In law and public administration, oprávněnost denotes that a person, institution, or act has a recognized right or power under law. This can concern a claim to benefits, custody, decision-making authority, or access to information. The assessment often requires verification of identity, status, and compliance with rules, and it can be challenged or revoked if the conditions cease to hold.

In information security and organizational governance, oprávněnost is used to describe whether a user or role has the legally/statutorily justified permission to perform certain actions or access data; it is addressed through processes like authentication and authorization, role-based access control, and audits.
