Oligodendrocytowa is an adjective form in Polish derived from oligodendrocyt and used to describe features related to oligodendrocytes, the myelinating glial cells of the central nervous system. The corresponding noun for the cell is oligodendrocyt (plural oligodendrocyty).

Oligodendrocytes reside predominantly in the white matter of the CNS. They extend multiple cellular processes that wrap around axons to form myelin sheaths. Each oligodendrocyte can myelinate several axons, creating segments called internodes. The myelin layer acts as an insulating membrane that increases the speed of electrical impulses through saltatory conduction, improving neural efficiency and timing.

In medical and scientific contexts, dysfunction or loss of oligodendrocyte function leads to demyelinating conditions, which disrupt nerve conduction and can contribute to neurological deficits.
