Okysliené (meaning "oxidized" in Czech) refers to a chemical process where a substance loses electrons or increases its oxidation state, typically reacting with oxygen or another oxidizing agent. This phenomenon is fundamental in various fields, including chemistry, metallurgy, and materials science.

In chemistry, oxidation is a key component of redox (reduction-oxidation) reactions, where oxidation occurs simultaneously with reduction. Common examples include the rusting of iron, where iron reacts with oxygen and moisture to form iron(III) oxide (Fe₂O₃), or the browning of apples when exposed to air due to enzymatic oxidation of phenolic compounds.

Metals are particularly susceptible to oxidation, leading to corrosion.
