Oftalmologin is the Swedish term for an ophthalmologist, a medical doctor who specializes in eye and vision care. Ophthalmologists are trained to perform eye exams, diagnose and treat eye diseases, prescribe medications, and perform eye surgery. They are also qualified to prescribe corrective lenses, such as eyeglasses and contact lenses, to improve vision.
