Négyszögök, or quadrilaterals in English, are polygons with four sides and four vertices. The sum of the interior angles of any quadrilateral is always 360 degrees. Quadrilaterals can be classified into several types based on the properties of their sides and angles.

A parallelogram is a quadrilateral where opposite sides are parallel and equal in length. Opposite angles are also equal. Rectangles are a special type of parallelogram with four right angles. Squares are even more specialized, being both rectangles and rhombuses, meaning they have four equal sides and four right angles.

A rhombus is a quadrilateral with four equal sides. Its diagonals bisect each other at right angles. A trapezoid, also known as a trapezium in some regions, is a quadrilateral with at least one pair of parallel sides. If a trapezoid has exactly one pair of parallel sides, it is sometimes called a general trapezoid. An isosceles trapezoid has non-parallel sides of equal length.

A kite is a quadrilateral with two pairs of equal-length sides that are adjacent to each other. Its diagonals are perpendicular, and one diagonal bisects the other. Irregular quadrilaterals do not fit into any of these specific categories and have no special properties regarding side lengths or angle measures. The study of quadrilaterals is a fundamental part of Euclidean geometry.
