Nonnarcoleptic refers to individuals who do not have narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological disorder that affects the brain's ability to regulate sleep-wake cycles. People with narcolepsy experience excessive daytime sleepiness, sudden sleep attacks, and sometimes cataplexy (a sudden loss of muscle tone), sleep paralysis, and hallucinations.
