Niemetalem is a term used to describe a substance that is not a metal. In chemistry, elements are broadly classified into three categories: metals, nonmetals, and metalloids. Niemetalem encompasses the nonmetal category and the metalloid category, essentially everything that does not exhibit the characteristic properties of metals.
