Neutrofílicos refers to a condition characterized by an elevated number of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell, in the blood. Neutrophils are a crucial component of the innate immune system, primarily responsible for engulfing and destroying bacteria and fungi. An increase in their count, known as neutrophilia, is a common response to infection, inflammation, or tissue damage.

The causes of neutrophilia are diverse. Bacterial infections are a very frequent trigger, as the body ramps up neutrophil production to combat the invading pathogens. Inflammatory conditions, such as autoimmune diseases or tissue injury from trauma or surgery, can also lead to elevated neutrophil levels.
