Naftatöötlusüksused, also known as oil refineries, are industrial facilities designed for the process of refining crude oil into more useful products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil, and asphalt. The primary goal of a refinery is to separate crude oil into its various hydrocarbon components and then process these components to meet specific market demands. Crude oil itself is a complex mixture of hydrocarbons with varying molecular weights and boiling points.

The refining process typically begins with distillation, where crude oil is heated and separated into fractions based on their boiling points.
