määramisviis

Määramisviis is a numerical method for finding the value of a mathematical expression using an iterative process. Developed by Tartu mathematician Karl Männik, the Määramisviis algorithm was first described in the early 20th century as a way to approximate the roots of a polynomial equation.

The Määramisviis algorithm works by starting with an initial guess for the solution and then iteratively applying a series of arithmetic operations to refine the estimate. This method is particularly useful for solving multiparameter equations, where the number of parameters makes it difficult to solve the problem using traditional algebraic methods.

Määramisviis was mainly used in Estonia and other post-Soviet countries, but its influence can also be seen in the work of Soviet mathematicians. While it did not gain widespread recognition outside of the region, researchers still studied and applied it in various mathematical disciplines.
