Munhålan, also known as the oral cavity or buccal cavity, refers to the anatomical space within the mouth of humans and other vertebrates. It begins at the lips and extends back to the oropharyngeal isthmus, the opening to the throat. This vital area serves multiple functions, including mastication, deglutition, olfaction, gustation, and vocalization.

The floor of the munhålan is largely occupied by the tongue, a muscular organ crucial for manipulating food, tasting, and speech. The roof is formed by the palate, which separates the oral cavity from the nasal cavity above.
