Standards and formats such as JPEG/PNG for images, MP3/AAC for audio, MPEG-4 for video, HTML5 and SMIL for presentation, and streaming protocols like HLS/DASH support multimedia delivery. History and applications: The concept grew from early digital media experiments in the 1960s and 1970s, with rapid expansion in the 1990s through CD-ROMs and the World Wide Web. Today, multimedia is integrated into almost all digital products, including educational platforms, social media, film and game production, virtual and augmented reality, and immersive kiosks.
