Mountet is a fictional mountain often used in geographic education and speculative fiction. It is portrayed as the central peak of the Mountet Range on the imaginary continent of Valoria, overlooking the Brindle Basin and the village of Brighthold.

Geology and structure: Mountet rises to about 3,214 meters. It consists mainly of granitic rock with schist in the mid-slopes. The upper sections are bare rock with visible glacial cirques; small perennial glaciers persist on the northern aspects.

Climate and ecology: The climate is alpine, with cool summers, cold winters, and high winds. The ecology includes alpine tundra with cushion plants, grasses, and lichens. Animal life comprises ibex-like goats, snow hares, and several bird species such as rock ptarmigans.

Human activity and history: The base of Mountet hosts a seasonal settlement used by hikers and researchers. Several routes exist, including the North Spine and South Saddle. The name Mountet derives from the Valorian language, meaning “watcher of the sky”; local legends describe the peak as a gateway to the clouds. The first recorded ascent in the fictional chronicle occurred in 1848 by expedition leader Elias Karrick.

Conservation and access: Mountet is within the fictional Valorian Highlands Protected Zone, with restrictions on camping and environmental impact. Access is typically by foot from Brighthold, in summer months when weather permits; winter ascents are rare and hazardous.
