Motorëve are devices that convert energy into mechanical motion. In Albanian technical usage, motorët refers to machines that drive rotation or linear motion in machinery, vehicles, and appliances. Broadly, motors are categorized as electric motors, internal combustion engines, and hydraulic or pneumatic motors.

Electric motors transform electrical energy into mechanical energy. They include direct current DC motors, alternating current AC motors (induction, synchronous), and brushless types. They are common in industry, consumer electronics, and transportation due to high efficiency, low emissions, and long life. Internal combustion engines convert chemical energy in fuels into kinetic energy through combustion. Gasoline, diesel, and gas engines power cars, trucks, ships, and generators. Hydraulic and pneumatic motors use pressurized fluids or air to generate motion, offering high torque at low speeds and safe operation in explosive environments.

The development of motors spans from early steam and rotary machines to modern electric machines. The first practical electric motors emerged in the 19th century, building on Faraday’s experiments, while internal combustion engines matured in the same period and enabled powered transportation and industry growth.

Key performance aspects include power, torque, speed, and efficiency. Motors are controlled by drives and controllers, such as variable frequency drives and electronic speed controllers, and by mechanical components like gearboxes and couplings. Maintenance focuses on lubrication, bearings, and insulation.

Today motorëve underpin most industrial, transportation, and consumer applications. Ongoing trends include higher efficiency, compact permanent-magnet and brushless designs, and broader electrification to reduce emissions and energy use.
