Monikeskusallin, also known as the Monocentric Model, is a spatial organization theory that describes the structure of cities and urban areas. It was first proposed by William Alonso in 1964. The model suggests that cities are organized around a single central business district (CBD), which is the most important and densely populated area. This CBD is typically located in the geographical center of the city and serves as the hub for economic, commercial, and administrative activities.

The Monocentric Model posits that land values decrease as one moves away from the CBD. This is due to the decreasing accessibility and convenience of services as the distance from the CBD increases. The model also suggests that residential areas are typically located in concentric rings around the CBD, with higher-income residents living closer to the center and lower-income residents living further out.

The Monocentric Model has been widely used in urban planning and policy-making to guide decisions related to land use, transportation, and infrastructure development. However, it has also been criticized for its oversimplification of urban structures and its failure to account for the increasing diversity and complexity of modern cities. Despite these criticisms, the Monocentric Model remains a foundational concept in urban studies and continues to influence urban planning practices.
