mitterekursiivset

Mitterekursiivset refers to a set of Eesti keel (Estonian language) orthographic and spelling rules governing the use of sentence-case at the beginning of certain words in an Estonian sentence. In Modern Standard Estonian, mitterekursiivset primarily applies to nouns and adjectives when they appear in sentence-initial position.

There are specific guidelines regarding which nouns and adjectives are subject to the mitterekursiivset rules. Initially capitalized words that refer to professions, occupations, institutions, and the names of certain objects are not capitalized in the middle of a sentence, unless they appear at the beginning of the sentence or in the titles.

Typically, the change of case to mitterekursiivset occurs during the third word of an Estonian sentence when that word is the name of a profession, occupation, or institution. However, there are certain exceptions, and specific rules to consider, including names of countries, the first word in titles, and so on.
