Millennialism is a broad category of religious or philosophical belief that asserts that a golden age or paradise is imminent, often in the near future. This belief is typically rooted in interpretations of religious texts, particularly prophecies concerning the end times and the establishment of a new world order. The term itself derives from the Latin word "mille," meaning thousand, referencing the Millennium, a period of peace and righteousness described in the Book of Revelation in the Christian Bible.

While often associated with Christianity, millennialist ideas are present in various religious and cultural traditions, including Judaism, Islam, and certain secular ideologies. Different forms of millennialism exist. Pre-millennialism, for instance, posits that Christ will return to Earth before the Millennium begins, ushering in a period of divine rule. Post-millennialism, conversely, believes that the Millennium will be brought about by human efforts and moral progress, after which Christ will return. Amillennialism, another view, interprets the Millennium symbolically rather than as a literal future event.
