Miktaalioiden (Finnish for "mixed languages" or "pidgins") refer to simplified, hybrid languages that emerge when speakers of distinct languages interact frequently but lack a common language. These languages often develop to facilitate communication among groups with different native tongues. Miktaalioiden are distinct from creoles, which are fully developed languages with native speakers, and from pidgins, which are typically limited to communication between non-native speakers.

In Finland, the term *miktaalio* is sometimes used colloquially to describe informal language blends, particularly in multilingual settings such as schools, workplaces, or immigrant communities.
