Ribbon microphones use a thin, flexible metal ribbon suspended in a magnetic field. When sound waves strike the ribbon, it moves, generating an electrical signal through electromagnetic induction. Ribbon microphones are known for their warm, natural sound and are often used in studio recording and broadcasting. However, they are more delicate and require careful handling compared to dynamic and condenser microphones.
