Midsecondmillennium is a historiographical label describing the middle phase of the second millennium CE. While not universally defined, most scholars place its core around the 14th through the early 16th centuries, roughly from 1350 to 1500, a period that sits between late medieval society and early modern states.

The era was marked by dramatic upheavals and enduring transformations. The Black Death and subsequent famines reshaped demographics and economies; long-distance trade continued to knit Afro-Eurasian networks, while new political centers emerged through state-building and military technology, including the early use of gunpowder.
