Microhüdrosüsteemis refers to a small-scale hydroelectric power system. These systems are designed to generate electricity by harnessing the energy of flowing water, typically rivers or streams, but on a much smaller scale than conventional large-scale hydropower plants. The capacity of a micro-hydropower system usually ranges from a few kilowatts to around 100 kilowatts.

The fundamental components of a microhüdrosüsteemis are similar to those of larger systems, but scaled down. These include a water intake structure to divert water, a penstock or pipeline to carry the water to the turbine, the turbine itself which converts the water's kinetic energy into rotational energy, a generator connected to the turbine to produce electricity, and often a control system for regulation.

Microhüdrosüsteemis are particularly well-suited for rural or remote areas where access to the main electricity grid is limited or nonexistent. They can provide a sustainable and renewable source of power for individual households, small communities, or agricultural operations. The environmental impact of micro-hydropower is generally considered to be low compared to larger projects, although considerations for local ecosystems and water flow remain important. Installation and maintenance costs are also typically more manageable for micro-scale systems.
