Meshtopologi refers to a network configuration where every device, or node, is directly connected to every other device within the network. This creates a highly redundant and robust system. In a full mesh topology, each device has multiple pathways to communicate with others. If one connection fails, data can be rerouted through an alternative path, ensuring continued network operation. This redundancy is a key advantage, making meshtopologies resilient to link or node failures.

The primary benefit of a meshtopology is its high reliability. Because of the multiple connections, the network can tolerate failures without significant disruption. Another advantage is that it can handle a high volume of traffic, as data can be distributed across many available paths. However, meshtopologies are also characterized by their complexity and cost. The number of connections required grows exponentially with the number of devices, leading to significant cabling requirements and installation challenges. For instance, with N devices, there are N(N-1)/2 connections in a full mesh. This high degree of interconnection also makes troubleshooting more difficult. Consequently, full mesh topologies are typically implemented in situations where extreme reliability is paramount, such as in critical infrastructure or backbone networks, and are less common in smaller, everyday networks due to their impracticality and expense.
