menenmä

Menenmä is a region located in the Satakunta region of western Finland. It is situated in the municipalities of Kokemäki and Eura, along the Finnish National Road 8. The name "Menenmä" refers to the area between the Rakave and Mynämäki watersheds.

Geographically, Menenmä is characterized by its open, sandy terrain that consists largely of heath and pine forest. The area's highest point is Kaukon kartano, which lies at approximately 82 meters above sea level. Menenmä falls within the Kuri SV (spatial unit) and is classified as a natural area under the Natura 2000 program.

Notably, Menenmä is part of an important bird habitat in the Satakunta region. According to the Finnish Ministry of the Environment, the region is a designated site due to the high variety of bird species that inhabit or pass through the area. Bird species such as the Montagu's harrier, the marsh warbler, and the red-back shrike can be found in the area. Menenmä is also classified as a "specific area" under the EU's Natura 2000 regulations, indicating its unique character and habitat importance.

However, human activities in the area have raised environmental concerns. Arable land and extensive agricultural activities are common in the region, as well as the presence of sandy soil roads. Wetlands and the nearby Karjaanske population have also been affected due to regional farming activities and military use for artillerive field.
