megalocytic
Megalocytic refers to an abnormally large size of red blood cells, also known as erythrocytes. This condition is medically termed megaloblastic anemia. Red blood cells are crucial for transporting oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues and carrying carbon dioxide back to the lungs for exhalation. In megalocytic anemia, the bone marrow produces abnormally large and immature red blood cells, which are inefficient at their job of oxygen transport.
The primary cause of megalocytic anemia is a deficiency in vitamin B12 (cobalamin) or folate (vitamin B9).
Symptoms of megalocytic anemia can include fatigue, weakness, pale skin, shortness of breath, and neurological problems
Diagnosis typically involves blood tests to measure red blood cell size and count, as well as vitamin
