Magyarszlovák refers to a Hungarian national minority living in Slovakia, or conversely, a Slovak national minority living in Hungary. The term is often used to describe the historical and present-day relationship between these two ethnic groups in the border regions and in the broader context of Central European history. The presence of both Hungarian and Slovak populations in these areas dates back centuries, influenced by the shifting political boundaries and administrative divisions of empires such as the Kingdom of Hungary and later Austria-Hungary.

Following the dissolution of Austria-Hungary and the formation of Czechoslovakia and the modern Hungarian state after World War I, significant populations of Magyars found themselves within the borders of Czechoslovakia (which later became Slovakia), and Slovaks resided in Hungary. This demographic arrangement has led to ongoing discussions and sometimes tensions regarding minority rights, language use, education, and cultural preservation.

In contemporary Slovakia, ethnic Hungarians constitute the largest national minority. They have their own political parties, cultural organizations, and media. Similarly, in Hungary, there is a recognized Slovak minority. The term "Magyarszlovák" can be used in a descriptive sense to acknowledge the interconnectedness and shared history of these communities, underscoring the complex ethnic mosaic of the Carpathian Basin. Efforts are often made by both countries and the respective minority organizations to foster good neighborly relations and ensure the rights and cultural identity of these populations.
