Magnetosfääriks is a Finnish term that translates to "magnetosphere" in English. It refers to the region of space surrounding a planet or other celestial body that is significantly influenced by its magnetic field. This magnetic field acts as a shield, deflecting most of the charged particles that stream from the Sun in the form of the solar wind.

The Earth's magnetosphere is a complex and dynamic structure. It is generated by the motion of molten iron in the planet's core, creating a powerful magnetic field that extends far out into space. The solar wind, a continuous flow of plasma from the Sun, interacts with this magnetic field, compressing it on the sunward side and stretching it into a long tail on the night side. The magnetosphere also plays a role in phenomena such as the aurora borealis and aurora australis, which occur when charged particles from the solar wind are channeled along magnetic field lines into the Earth's atmosphere, causing the air to glow.
